Greek Ashtray Story

The brilliant charity venture called Significant Objects included my story about their found, cheaply purchased object today. I love the concept of this website and I am really pleased to have been included. Check out my object, a Greek ashtray, and my accompanying story and bid on it. The winner gets the ashtray artifact and the story; the proceeds go to the charity Girls Write Now.

Writer’s Talk: Jonathan Lethem audio interview

I teach an online course called Writer’s Talk: Writing through Reading with The New York Times, a collaborative effort between the NYTimes and The University of Toronto. Each session welcomes writers in to speak about craft. The first term featured, among others, Jonathan Lethem, and since Jonathan was unable to meet my dates online, he offered to interview in person in Brooklyn. So down I went to speak to him about his fabulous book, Motherless Brooklyn. I love this interview. Jonathan Lethem is charming and open. I have just received his permission to  post it to my website. It’s about an hour, so I have broken it into three pieces. Take it for a walk on your iPod. Enjoy!
